Hi, I'm Summer

I’m a trauma therapist and the founder of Soul Healing Counseling, where “Love Heals the Soul.”

I support teens and adults in who have been deeply impacted by trauma, helping them heal past wounds, restore their sense of self, and build healthier, more secure relationships.

Many of the people I work with feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break. Together, we focus on strengthening emotional regulation, creating a deeper sense of safety within your nervous system, and helping you move toward a more grounded and fulfilling life.

For those who desire it, I also offer a space to explore and integrate your faith into the healing process, meeting you exactly where you are.

You don’t have to carry this alone.

  • I believe that when someone experiences trauma, it can create a sense of brokenness within their soul impacting their thoughts, emotions, and sense of identity. This often disrupts their connection to themselves, their body, and, for many, their relationship with God.

Trauma doesn’t just live in our memories, it can also be carried in the body. You may feel this as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, numbness, or a constant sense of disconnection.

I believe healing happens when we gently restore a sense of safety within the nervous system. As your body begins to feel safer, your mind can begin to make sense of your experiences, and your soul can begin to heal.

Through this process, many people find themselves reconnecting, not only with who they truly are, but also, if it feels meaningful to them, with their faith and spiritual life.

Healing is not about fixing you, it’s about restoring connection, wholeness, and alignment within your soul, body, and spirit.

  • I work with teens and adults who have been deeply impacted by trauma and are ready to begin healing at the root.

Many of the people I support appear strong on the outside, but internally feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to break. You may be carrying pain from the past that continues to show up in your thoughts, relationships, emotions, or sense of identity.

    • You may be struggling with:

      • Healing from sexual trauma, and the shame, fear, or disconnection that can follow

      • PTSD or unresolved trauma that keeps you feeling anxious, triggered, or in survival mode

      • Childhood trauma or family wounds that still impact your self-worth and relationships

      • Anxiety that leaves you feeling on edge, overwhelmed, or mentally exhausted

      • Depression or emotional numbness that makes it hard to feel connected or hopeful

      • Grief and loss, whether from a person, relationship, or season of life

      • People-pleasing, codependency, or difficulty setting boundaries

      • Self-worth and identity struggles, including rejection wounds or losing yourself in relationships

You may also feel disconnected from yourself or even from your faith, and long for a deeper sense of peace, clarity, and wholeness.

Whether your faith in Christ is central to your life or something you’re still exploring, you are welcome here.

Together, we create a safe, compassionate space to process what you’ve been through, gently heal the wounds beneath the surface, and help you reconnect with your sense of self, your relationships, and, if desired, your spiritual life.

You don’t have to carry this alone.

  • You’re ready to look beneath the surface, not just manage symptoms, but understand and heal what’s at the root.

You may feel exhausted from holding everything together on the outside while struggling internally with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or disconnection. Part of you wants change… but another part feels unsure where to begin.

We may be a good fit if you:

    • Want to heal from trauma that continues to impact your daily life, relationships, or sense of self

    • Are open to gently exploring your past in a way that feels safe and at your pace

    • Feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, perfectionism, or emotional shutdown

    • Desire a deeper sense of peace, emotional stability, and connection within yourself

    • Are open to working with your body and nervous system—not just your thoughts

    • Long to rebuild your identity, self-worth, and sense of safety

    • Value a warm, compassionate space where you feel seen, supported, and not judged

You may also be someone whose faith in Christ is important—or something you’re curious about exploring as part of your healing journey.

My approach is not about fixing you, but walking alongside you as you begin to understand your story, honor the parts of you that helped you survive, and move toward deeper healing and wholeness.

If this resonates, you don’t have to do this alone.

    • I’m a big fan of Groku (aka “Baby Yoda”) and anything that brings a little joy and lightheartedness.

    • I deeply value quality time with the people I love and cherish meaningful connection with family and friends.

    • Spending time in nature is one of my favorite forms of self-care. A peaceful walk outdoors helps me feel grounded, refreshed, and connected.

    • I LOVE tea. I most likely will always have a cup of tea with me.

    • I’m also a proud UGA Bulldogs fan. #GoDawgs!

Who We Are

Frequently Ask Question

  • For individual therapy, I work with teens and adults who are healing from trauma, navigating anxiety or depression, moving through grief and life transitions, and exploring how past experiences have shaped their sense of self, relationships, and emotional well-being. Many of the clients I support are carrying wounds from childhood trauma, painful family dynamics, abusive relationships, rejection, or seasons of chronic stress that feel overwhelming.

I specialize in trauma-informed care for clients seeking deeper healing from childhood trauma, sexual trauma, PTSD, codependency, perfectionism, and relational wounds. I also work with clients who feel disconnected from themselves and want to rebuild self-worth, emotional balance, and a more authentic connection to who they are.

My approach is culturally sensitive, compassionate, and holistic. I recognize how identity, family systems, culture, and life experiences can deeply impact healing, and I strive to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and supported.

For family therapy, I work with families who are wanting to improve communication, strengthen connection, navigate conflict, and better understand one another. Together, we create a supportive space to address patterns, rebuild trust, and foster healthier relationships.

  • My healing approach is rooted in caring for the whole person. I often describe this as healing from the soul, the place where your mind, emotions, beliefs, and inner experiences meet. When trauma or painful life experiences occur, they can leave wounds that impact how you see yourself, relate to others, and move through the world. My goal is to help you heal at the root, not just manage symptoms.

I prioritize safety, trust, and nervous system regulation as the foundation of our work together. Before deeper healing can happen, it is important that you feel supported and equipped with coping tools to manage stressors, triggers, and overwhelming emotions. Therapy is never about forcing you to move faster than you are ready for.

I believe healing also includes gaining freedom from shame, resentment, fear, and guilt that may be rooted in past wounds. Together, we work to gently process what has been carried for too long and create space for greater peace, clarity, and self-compassion.

I integrate Brainspotting, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed DBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) with Inner Child Healing to help you:

    • Break generational patterns

    • Understand and care for protective responses

    • Heal deep emotional wounds from the past

    • Reconnect with your authentic self

My hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel seen, empowered, and supported as you move toward lasting healing and wholeness.

  • I operate from the belief that healing happens best in a space where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely supported. While no space can be perfect, I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up honestly, feel emotionally safe enough to be brave, and begin healing without fear of judgment.

I approach therapy with humility, compassion, and deep respect for your lived experience. You are the expert of your story. My role is not to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you, offer guidance, and help you access the wisdom, strength, and healing already within you. I am thoughtful about the natural power dynamic that can exist in therapy, and I work to create a collaborative space where your voice, choices, and pace remain central.

I believe many of the struggles people carry are rooted in wounds, survival responses, and environments they had to adapt to, not personal failure. Because of this, I view symptoms such as anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism, emotional shutdown, or relational difficulties through a compassionate lens rather than a judgmental one. Together, we work to understand these patterns with care while building healthier ways forward.

I also believe that identity, culture, family systems, and life experiences deeply shape healing. I strive to offer culturally sensitive care that honors the full complexity of who you are and what you have lived through. My commitment is to continue learning, growing, and seeking consultation so I can provide ethical, thoughtful, and trauma-informed care.

Above all, I believe healing is possible. With safety, support, and the right space, people can break painful patterns, reconnect with themselves, and move toward a life rooted in peace, authenticity, and self-worth.
